A loss is still a loss
It's often said a strength and a weakness of mine is my willingness to speak truth to power and I’m going to today. In case you didn't know, Pat Mullins is resigning as chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia this year. He and I have not always seen eye to eye on the issues but nevertheless I wish him the best. He did the best he could at herding cats, I suppose. However, this has to be said, putting aside the rosy talk about Ed Gillespie’s near upset victory over Senator Mark Warner, we Republicans mustn't lose sight of the fact that it was still a loss. Yes, a closer than expected loss, but devastating loss nonetheless (I'd argue the closeness of the race makes it even more devastating).
