For the new songs coming out during these weeks, Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor, and Selena Gomez are getting some serious competition.
All these successful pop stars were joined atop the Billboard Hot 100 this week by a celeb known for her acting chops rather than her pipes.
Recently, with the “Hunger Game Mockingjay” hitting the theater, Billboard revealed on Wednesday, Dec. 3, that Jennifer Lawrence’s first single is on the publication’s Hot 100 chart.
J. Law’s new song “The Hanging Tree” from the latest Hunger Games soundtrack successfully landed on the No. 12 spot on the list of charting songs.
The song starts with the star’s quiet voice: “Are you, are you / Coming to the tree / They strung up a man / They say who murdered three / Strange things did happen here / No stranger would it be / If we met at midnight / In the hanging tree.”
Based on US Magazine’s sum up, “The Hanging Tree” now stands on the Billboard Hot 100 below Swift’s “Blank Space” at No. 1, Trainor’s “All About That Bass” at No. 2, Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” at No. 3, Gomez’s “The Heart Wants What It Wants” at No. 6, and Ariana Grande’s “Love Me Harder” at No. 10.
It is almost impressive that J. Law’s number beat out Beyonce’s “7/11,” Jessie J’s “Bang Bang” with Nicki Minaj and Grande, Big Sean’s “I Don’t F–k With You,” and Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t.”
