Music can influence a person just in general. Think about this for a second. If you listen to hard core gangster rap all day every day you begin to think you're tough. Now if you listen to a lot of positive music you are the most energetic and nice person you could possibly be. Now if you listen a little bit of everything you probably have mixed feelings about certain things.
For instance my favorite rap group is Slaughter House. The group is composed of Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, and Royce Da 5″9. Joe Budden is the wise sage of the group and his lyrics are understood by the older listeners because frankly I don't understand half of his metaphors. Joell Ortiz has a diction that consists of a lot puns that you can pick up quickly, because in a lot of verses I have heard him rap it's mostly just puns and similes. Crooked I is the type of rapper that raps very quickly but will come after you if you say something about him that he doesn't appreciate. On top of that he's one of the best free style rappers in the rap game right now so clearly this group has an advantage. Royce Da 5″9 is basically the ring leader of the group. He has been rapping under Eminem and Dr. Dre for awhile and probably has the most venomous lines out the entire group. Plus every single rapper in the group Slaughter House can give you at lest three minutes of free style rapping on the spot if needed.
The top five female singers of all time are Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera and Jill Scott. Whitney Houston is the best singer of all time regardless of her off stage problems. She could flat out sing her butt off. She gave her best effort every time and voice was pure and didn't need any auto tune because she was just that good. Aretha Franklin is a gospel singer, so you know what she sings is going to be family oriented every time. She has beautiful voice and has been recognized by the gospel world as one of the best gospel singers of all time. Christina Aguilera has a very string voice and can surprise you with what she can bring to the table. Mariah Carey is famously known in the singing world to it that glass shattering high note when she really wants to. Other than that she has a beautiful voice but refuses to fully embrace that like Beyonce Knowles. Jill Scott is a great singer and most people now days will not accept that because she isn't a size negative two. So what, he doesn't have the appearance of a super model but she can sing just as good as any one else in this planet.
Music today I believe is the same as it was thirty years ago. Kids could listen to music and not worry about getting the edited version because then music was actually music and you had to have talent back then when you were a music artist (according to my older relatives).
