After allegedly being fired as acting manager by daughter Beyonce Knowles, it looks like Mathew Knowles has found his new calling in life–reality television!
Breaking From Above, which got its international debut in the fall on MTV is finally making its way to America on Monday. The show will feature Knowles' new project, which is an all-female act, From Above.
Although the format of reality television may be new to Knowles, he has proven he knows what he's doing when managing female acts. Mathew has had huge success with Destiny's Child and later on with Beyonce's career once she went solo. In the past Knowles also managed Blaque, and Trin-i-tee 5:7.
The reality series is said to follow the UK girls in From Above, Ashley, Daisy, Seyi, Chelsey, and Monique as they go through a boot camp-like artist development program, which will show the girls going through intense physical, vocal, media, and choreography training, much like in the same vein as the old Motown training.
When asked about what he thought the US airing of the show would bring to the group, Knowles said the show offers, "a great platform for the ladies." Via a statement to The Huffington Post, Mathew Knowles continued, saying, "The U.S. launch is very unique and interesting — all of the key players are from the U.S., with the exception of the ladies, who all reside in London." In addition to being executive producer of the show, Knowles is also the show's sole creator.
It is said that as far as the taping of From Above, most of it was down in Knowles' home of Houston, with a "glam team" of choreographers, and other staff all residing in the US. "Our goal is continue to build [From Above's] brand internationally and use the U.S. launch as an introduction to the group and their music," Knowles said.
This show comes on the heels of another pop explosion that we haven't seen since the earlier millennium thanks to acts like One Direction, Justin Bieber, and The Wanted.
